Masonry / Concrete Cleaning

Masonry, Stone, and Concrete are all often used as exterior facades of buildings and other structures.  All of these substrates are susceptible to environmental hazards such as pollution, ultra-violet rays, erosion, and acid rain.  These unavoidable conditions  can stain and deteriorate any surface.  Internal deficiencies, such as re-bar corrosion or efflorescence, can also leave the same undesirable results.

It is essential to choose the proper cleaning procedure in order to prevent any obvious or underlying damage to the substrate.  Even minor chemical damage can destroy a masonry substrate's natural water repellency characteristics.  Choosing the right contractor, especially for historical preservation work, is crucial.  Most chemical cleaners contain hydrochloric or hydrofluoric acid.  Only the most qualified technicians should apply these products to a masonry or concrete building.  Results from improper cleaning methods quite often cannot be reversed.  Crosby Restoration's cleaning specialists have the experience necessary to make the proper choices on cleaning methods.

Some of our cleaning procedures are high-pressure washing without chemicals, low-pressure soaker hoses, cleaning older masonry / concrete with restoration chemicals, cleaning new masonry, utilizing various gels and poultices for restoration work, removing coatings and neutralizing acidic cleaners with various alkalines.
